Description

Cleaning is the least glamorous part of a brewery and the one that decides whether the beer is any good. A CIP station earns its space by making the correct cycle the easy cycle.

Two tanks, held hot

Caustic in one tank, acid in the other, both insulated and both held at temperature. Recovering the caustic after each use rather than dumping it cuts chemical cost by roughly two thirds over a year.

Conductivity, not timers

The final rinse ends when inline conductivity says the water leaving the vessel matches the water going in. On a lightly soiled tank that is quicker than a fixed timer; on a badly soiled one it is longer, which is the point.

Engineering highlights

  • Caustic and acid held separately and hot, so a full sequence runs without anyone mixing chemicals by hand.
  • Rinse is verified by inline conductivity rather than a timer — the cycle ends when the water is clean, not when the clock says so.
  • Twelve cubic metres an hour at three bar is enough to turn a spray ball properly in a sixty hectolitre tank.
  • Each cycle writes a record against the vessel it cleaned, which is exactly what an auditor asks for first.

Grist milling and dry handling

A two-roller mill cracks the husk without shredding it, then a dust-tight auger drops the grist straight into the hydrator. Gap is set from the panel so the same recipe delivers the same crush every single brew day.
