Description

Glycol plants are routinely oversized, because the easy way to size one is to add up jacket areas and multiply. That produces a machine that short-cycles for eleven months and struggles for one.

Sizing from the schedule

We ask for your tank list and your crash schedule. Cooling load is dominated by two things: the heat of fermentation during the first seventy-two hours, and the crash. Those rarely coincide across a whole cellar, and a buffer tank absorbs what overlap remains.

Why the buffer matters

Without a buffer, the compressor sees the crash directly and must be sized for it. A thousand litres of chilled glycol carries the first fifteen minutes of a crash on its own, which lets a forty-two kilowatt machine do the work of a much larger one.

  • Digitally modulated scroll compressor tracks a part load instead of cycling, which is where most glycol plants waste their life.
  • A thousand litre insulated buffer absorbs the crash spike so the compressor is sized for the average, not the worst minute.

The Process

Grist milling and dry handling

A two-roller mill cracks the husk without shredding it, then a dust-tight auger drops the grist straight into the hydrator. Gap is set from the panel so the same recipe delivers the same crush every single brew day.
