What it is

A hooded long-sleeve in a 190 gsm knit with elastane. It is a mid-layer, not a sweatshirt. The weight puts it between the 125 gsm tee and anything you would call outerwear, which is the gap most people fill with a cotton hoodie that gets heavy the moment it is damp.

The hood

Cut close to the head and without a drawcord. A loose hood on a run fills with air, pulls back off your head and then sits as a parachute between your shoulders. This one is shaped to stay up at pace, and it will sit flat under a shell hood if you are wearing both.

Cuffs and sleeves

The cuffs have thumbholes, so the sleeve stays over the back of the hand instead of riding up the forearm every time you swing your arms. Sleeves are raglan, which puts no seam on the point of the shoulder for a pack strap to sit on. All seams are flatlock.

What it does not have

No pockets. A pocket on a close-fitting running layer either sits empty or swings, and neither is worth the extra fabric. If you need to carry something, the short and the tight both have pockets built for it.

Care

Cold wash, hang dry, no softener. The knit is synthetic and softener will leave a film on it.
