Fairhaven works · psychrometric room 3

We rate airflow at 740 Pa of external static with the F7 bank already loaded, not with clean filters.

Selection is proved in our own psychrometric room at 7/12 °C chilled water and 43 °C condensing ambient. Machines above 400 kW get a witnessed 96-hour run before crating, and the engineer who signs that report is the one who answers the phone in February.

Milestones

Load sheet in, selection signed, run test witnessed, first season covered

Four dated milestones, each one signed by the engineer who actually ran it.

  1. Load sheet and water temperatures

Zone loads, flow and return, glycol, and the space the plant has to fit into.

  2. Selection signed off

Coils, fans and controls sized together, with a name against every line of the schedule.

  3. Witnessed run in the chamber

Capacity, static, power and sound measured at your conditions and logged per serial.

  4. Commissioning and the first cold snap

Start-up support, defrost trends read back, spares held against your serial numbers.

Fin blocks, casings and refrigerant circuits are made in the same hall

Fin press to final panel

Fin blocks, casings and refrigerant circuits are made in the same hall

Coil blocks are wound and hydraulically expanded two cells away from where the casings are folded, so a fin spacing change does not need a purchase order. Brazing is done on nitrogen purge and every circuit gets a pressure-decay hold before it sees refrigerant.

How we test
01

Rated With Dirty Filters

Capacity and static are read at the F7 pressure drop the building will actually reach.

02

Curb-Compatible Casings

Rails and drain pans dimensioned so the next size up lands on the existing opening.

03

Water Temperatures First

Flow, return, glycol and delta-T are settled before anyone selects a coil block.

04

Defrost Logged, Not Guessed

Heat pump defrost is trended through the first cold snap and the data comes back to you.

Two chambers, calibrated nozzle banks and a water-side rig let us set your entering conditions rather than a convenient standard day. Capacity, external static, absorbed power and sound come out as one signed record per serial number.

Site notes

Heard in the plant room and up on the roof

The 43 °C figures on their sheet were the ones we actually measured on that roof in August. I cannot say that about the last three suppliers we used.
Marek J. Mechanical contractor
Their engineer worked out that our return path was about 180 Pa short before anything had been cut. One email, and the programme survived.
Priya N. Consulting engineer
Second bank of heat pump modules bolted onto the same header two winters later. No redesign, no new controller, no shutdown over a weekend.

Send the load sheet and the water temperatures you have to hit

Zone loads, flow and return, the ambient you design for and the space the plant has to fit. A sized selection with datasheets comes back inside one working day.
